Things have been slow on the writing front in recent times, mostly due to school starting up. I always go through that weird period where I'm not quite sure what should count as free time, and what should count as homework time. Just about at the two week point now, I have an idea of what each professor is going to demand from me, so I can breathe easy again.
Despite writing going a bit slow, I've been squeezing in bits of world building here and there on my currently unnamed project. Which is the project that was salvaged from the first novel I sat down to write. Y'know, the Urban Fantasy playing off of Ovid's creation myth, and so on. I professed undying love for the idea then, and it's still holding true, but I've completely reworked how I was using that spark. And I think I like it even more now. I was at a loss for the entire middle portion of the previous attempt. Now though, conflicts and baddies galore are volunteering to make the lives of these poor, unsuspecting characters difficult.
Have you ever repurposed an idea before? Are you like me, and you can't let something go once you've thought of it, so your only choice is to repurpose it?
